Beannacht ~ "Blessing" ~

On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you.

And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window and the ghost of loss gets in to you, may a flock of colours, indigo, red, green, and azure blue come to awaken in you a meadow of delight.

When the canvas frays in the currach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may there come across the waters a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home.

May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may the clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours. And so may a slow wind work these words of love around you, an invisible cloak to mind your life.

Spring In Baghdad

"..Spring should be about renewal and rebirth. For Iraqis, spring has been about reliving painful memories and preparing for future disasters. In many ways, this year is like 2003 prior to the war when we were stocking up on fuel, water, food and first aid supplies and medications. We're doing it again this year but now we don't discuss what we're stocking up for. Bombs and B-52's are so much easier to face than other possibilities.

I don’t think anyone imagined three years ago that things could be quite this bad today. The last few weeks have been ridden with tension. I’m so tired of it all- we’re all tired.

Three years and the electricity is worse than ever. The security situation has gone from bad to worse. The country feels like it’s on the brink of chaos once more- but a pre-planned, pre-fabricated chaos being led by religious militias and zealots.."

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace, how sweet the Earth
That bore a witch like me!
I once was burned, now I survive,
Was hung and now I sing.
T'was grace that drew down the moon
And grace that raised the seas,
The magick in the people's will
Will set out Mother free.
We face the East and breathe the winds
That move across this earth,
From gentle breeze to hurricane
Our breath will bring forth the change.
Turn towards the South and feel the fire
That burns in you and me.
The spirit's flame will rise again
And burn eternally.
We greet the West, our souls awash
In tide of primal birth.
Our tears and blood, our pain and love
Will cleanse and heal the earth.
Reach into the North and know your roots
Down deep ancestral caves.
We find the wisdom of the Crone,
Of circles we are made.
Amazing Earth, enduring life,
From death into rebirth.
T'is earth I am and earth I love
And earth I'll always be.
Amazing Grace, how sweet the
Earth That bore Witches like we.
We once were burned, now we survive,
Were hung and now we sing.
Goddess bless, so mote it be,
Our magick spirals on
Merry meet and merry part
And merry meet again.

Spell For Rainbow Energy

Ever feel that every day life is crowding in? That matters of the mundane are obscuring your view of the enchantment? Life can be complicated at times. If you find mundane issues are clouding your judgement I have a tonic for you :>)

Take a multi faceted cut glass crystal wash it well. Hang it at a sunny window, take note that the crystal is blessing you with rainbows on your ceiling or walls. Use a large glass, rinse well and fill with water. Hold the glass by the crystal so that tiny intense rainbows are held within the water. As you do this look out of the window into the world, relax and watch as the crystal continues to charge the water.

When you feel ready drink the water, sip it, as you do so visualize the spirit of the rainbow in you life. Feel yourself filling up with crystal light. If you do not finish the water keep it with you and drink it through out the day.You may find that you see things differently in all aspects of your life and the rainbows will continue to bless you with energies that will make your work in the mundane much simplified. Leave the crystal hanging in the window, remember to wash it regularly.

In these short winter days a candle will do just as well for sun light.

Power of Color

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel:
all claimed that they were the best, the most important, the
most useful, the favorite.
GREEN said: "Clearly I am the most
important. I am the sign of life and of hope.
I was chosen for grass, leaves, trees--without
me, all animals would die. Look out over the
countryside and you will see that I am
in the majority."
BLUE interrupted: "You only think about
the Earth, but consider the sky and sea.
It is the water that is the basis of life
and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea.
The sky gives space and peace and serenity.
Without my peace, you would all be nothing."
YELLOW chuckled:"You are all so serious.
I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth to the world.
The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow.
Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile.
Without me, there would be no fun."
ORANGE started next to blow her temper.
"I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce but I am precious for I
serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins.
Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangos, and pawpaws.
I don't hang around all the time, but when
I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives
another thought to any of you".
RED could stand it no longer. He shouted out: "I am the ruler of all of you!
I am blood! Lifes blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery.
I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire to the blood!
I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose,
the poppy and the poinsettia. Without me,
the earth would be as empty as the moon!"
PURPLE rose up to his full height. He was very tall and spoke with great pomp
"I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have
always chosen me forI am a sign of authority and wisdom.
People do not question me, they listen and obey".
Finally, INDIGO spoke, much more quietly than all the others,
but with just as much determination:
"Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me,
but without me you all become superficial. I
represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water.
You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace."
And so all the colors went on boasting and
quarreling, each convinced of their own superiority.
Soon, their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling
flash of bright lightening! Thunder rolled and boomed!
Rain started to pour down relentlessly.
The colors crouched down in fear drawing close to one anotherfor comfort.
In the midst of the clamor,
RAIN began to speak: "You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves,
each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know you we are each made for
a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one
another and come to me." Doing as they were told, the colors united
and joined hands. The rain continued.
"From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow
of colors as a reminder that you can all live in peace.
The rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow".
And so, whenever a good rain washes the
world, and a rainbow appears in the sky,
let us remember to appreciate one another.
