Heritage Alert

..Our national icon remains our national disgrace, robbed of the dignity and splendid isolation it so patently deserves. Consultations continue, proposals proliferate but the saga of how to improve Stonehenge drags on. .

So why do they have to improve a national icon? Paint it green? Neon signs?

I think the main concern of the National Trust is to move the road so people can't see stonehenge without paying!

MaccyD's are all over, thank goodness there are loads of other places to eat or we'd all be "super sized" :>)

Kristi, whenever you plan that trip let me know, I'd love to show you around this green and pleasant land, before it becomes a desert;>)

Davo, I know it's hard for you to relate to history and culture, let's face it the song lines of the Aborigines are a mystery to you.

But no we won't bulldoze it, we'll fight to keep our beloved Stone Henge because it is a magical place.

You'd think, given the status of Stonehenge, that they wouldn't scrimp and that they would move that bloody road and make the place wonderful........

but no - purse strings are tight, apparently......

Cocaine Jesus, Cocaine Jesus, as impressive and majestic as Stonehenge is (and I'm a standing-stone freak), I do beg to differ!

I agree with Mother Damnable about the current state of Stonehenge being a disgrace. Newgrange in Ireland has been accorded a far better lot.
