Precious Stones By Christina Georgina Rossetti

An emerald is as green as grass;
A ruby red as blood;
A sapphire shines as blue as heaven;
A flint lies in the mud.
A diamond is a brilliant stone,
To catch the world's desire;
An opal holds a fiery spark;
But a flint holds fire.

I wanted to thank you for your comment on my blog and your information about Minerva..

I have always felt more akin to her than some of the other flightier goddesses....*smile*

And I like the poem...

I missed Minerva - I'll have to go back and check.

She was on my high school class ring - the goddess of wisdom. Unfortunately she didn't rub off quite as well as she should with some.

Now you're going to have me digging through another poet. The only thing I can remember of hers is "who has seen the wind".

I not only like the poem, the way you present them is poetry as well.

Still hanging out at the cafe?
