Parliament Square Calling

"I just watched the news, there are carollers in Parliament Square RIGHT NOW pushing at the Serious Organised Crime etc. Act, along with Maya Evans and a human rights lawyer. "

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "We treated the event as a carol service and not as a demonstration so the legislation did not come into play."

So why not treat all demonstrations as carol services--singing loudly to the Most High God? Let's all go singing in the streets!

I am very attracted to the idea of organising 10-50 people or so to walk around Parliament and Downing Street in pairs or alone and read out loud from newspapers or magazines. Heh, if we tip off the police beforehand, there might be people getting harrassed by them who were doing nothing more than reading newspapers.

Chuckle, there is also the thought that we could "organise" lots of demonstrations.

To which no one but the police turns up for!

If contacted by the police we could just say we had a bit of a cold that day :>)

I love the idea of singing through the streets!

This is a little off topic but...
Recently on the BBC news there was a feature on a police drugs raid - some police in Dorset dressed up as carol singers in order to get the dealers to open the door.
Perhaps there should be a law to prohibit people impersonating carol singers in that it is a serious misdemeanour to impersonate a policeman. :)

Well I'm glad I'm don't live in Dorsetshire any more!

Here in London we just hurl chocolate coins at 'em from an upstairs window!

(Policemen that is ;>)
